Delmas Dam

Delmas is a small maize farming town located in the Victor Khanye Local Municipality, Nkangala District, Mpumalanga, South Africa[1][3]. While the area is known for agriculture and industry, there is no major dam named “Delmas Dam” recorded in public or tourism sources related to the town or municipality.

However, there is a site called the Delmas Colliery Slimes Dam, which is not a traditional water supply or recreational dam, but rather a landfill related to mining activities situated within Victor Khanye Local Municipality[5]. Slimes dams are typically used in coal mining for the disposal of waste material after the mineral extraction process and do not serve as drinking water reservoirs or public recreational areas.

When exploring notable dam attractions near Delmas, the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve is the closest well-known water body, located deeper within the Mpumalanga province. The Loskop Dam is recognized as one of the largest dams in the Southern Hemisphere, covering over 2,350 hectares[7].

No information was found to suggest the existence of a major public infrastructure dam specifically named “Delmas Dam” within available local or engineering records. It is possible that minor farm dams or colliery dams exist in the area, primarily serving industrial or agricultural purposes.
